What is Kinesiology Tape?

Kinesiology Tape (K tape) is an elastic therapeutic taping technique used to prevent and treat a wide variety of both sports related and non-sports related injuries. K tape can also be used to relieve pain and aid the healing process in soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments).

How does it work?

The elasticity of the K tape creates a biomechanical lifting mechanism on the skin that decompresses the soft tissues to promote lymphatic drainage and healing. Benefits of K tape include:

  • Reduce swelling and inflammation

  • Reduce muscle fatigue

  • Increase blood flow

  • Flushing toxins

  • Muscle facilitation (stimulation of neural connections between the brain and muscle)

  • Proprioceptive facilitation (increase flexibility and range of movement)
